Will Swaim, founding editor of the OC Weekly, told the staff today that he's leaving. He didn't specifically address the New Times ownership, but he's thought to have tired of answering to the new regime. No word on a replacement, only the alert that Mike Lacey will show up Monday to talk to everybody. Lacey, editor in chief of all the Village Voice Media papers, was in town last week for some LA Weekly meetings. No news that has made it to my ears, although the grumbles I do hear suggest there has been the expected tension between Lacey-appointee Jill Stewart and the culture she joined as news editor in charge of local coverage. Daniel Hernandez, for instance, reportedly was granted his request to be edited not by Stewart but by top editor Laurie Ochoa.
