Hollywood starts shutting down

creditPasadena keeps the Rose Parade route open to the public pretty much until show time. Ditto for the Los Angeles Marathon. But for some reason, busy Hollywood Boulevard has to be closed for a full week before the Oscars ceremony. The block between Highland and Orange shut down last night; the sidewalk in front of Chinese Theatre and Hollywood and Highland is also blocked. The interruption of everyday life grows through the week until on Sunday they close the southbound ramp off the Hollywood Freeway and the Red Line subway station at Highland.

Street and sidewalk closures
Rail service alert

Also: Sunset Boulevard goes down a lane in front of the Arclight tonight for the premier of The Astronaut Farmer.
