creditTu Ciudad's first almost-monthly issue (there will now be ten a year) leads with a piece on the offspring of mixed marriages "transforming what it means to be Latino in L.A., and why these new Angelenos may hold the key to racial harmony in our wildly diverse, and often times, divided city." Author and former KPFK host Marcos McPeek Villatoro wrote the cover story, which is accompanied by personal pieces from Latino writers who the editors say "are mixed with Anglo, Jewish, Irish, Asian and black blood." Also in the issue: Constance Marie, star of ABC's "George Lopez" show. None of it is online yet.

Semi-related: Today's Pasadena Weekly updates the threatened closure of Tia Chucha’s Cafe Cultural in Sylmar. Doesn't look good, but there will be a fundraiser and anniversary celebration at the bookstore on Feb. 17.
