Los Angeles New City Monthly, from the company behind CityBeat, will "celebrate the intellectual and cultural 'renaissance' of L.A.'s Eastside, from Hollywood through Silver Lake and Los Feliz and into the core of the newly revitalized downtown." So it won't go anywhere near the Eastside — the demographically challenged ZIP codes of Boyle Heights, El Sereno, City Terrace, East Los Angeles, Highland Park and other points east of downtown will have to make do without LANCM. Anyway, publisher of the new magazine is Charles Gerencser, currently VP for Sales at Southland Publishing and the former publisher of CityBeat. Editor is Nikki Bazar, now the editor of Southland's Verdugo Monthly. June's first issue ought to be mailed in mid-May.
