A live baby was dropped off at a fire station in Norwalk this morning, the first under the Safe Surrender policy in Los Angeles County in 2008 and the 63rd since the program began six years ago. Safe Surrender allows someone to bring in an infant that is no more than three days old, as long as there are no signs of abuse. Supervisor Don Knabe, who got the program started in 2001, announced today's baby.
