Liz Gaier lasted thirteen months at the newspaper in Torrance. So much for the South Bay roots that were touted when she arrived in December 2006. The Los Angeles Newspaper Group today said that next up is Mark Ficarra, who will become publisher of the Breeze and sister publications the Beach Reporter, the Palos Verdes News and Impacto USA. The paper's story says he "brings more than 20 years of experience in the business of daily and weekly newspapers and direct mail. He has served as vice president of advertising for the East Valley Tribune in Phoenix, Ariz., general manager of Clipper Magazine and general manager of the Pennysaver, also in Phoenix. Ficarra also has held executive sales positions with Cox Communications, Thomson Newspapers and Freedom Communications." Gaier will return to her job as senior vice president of new business development for MediaNews Inc., LANG's parent company.
