The paralyzed former LAPD officer and her husband, officer Tim Pearce, welcomed Lucas Braedon Pearce into the world yesterday. All are doing well. Ripatti was shot in South L.A. in 2006.

Benefit for Randal Simmons: The Burger King at the corner of West Cesar Chavez Avenue and Grand Avenue will donate all of today's proceeds to a fund for Simmons' family. Regarding services for Simmons, the SWAT officer who was killed in the Valley last week, viewing is from 11 am to 8 pm today at Glory Christian Fellowship International Church in Carson. The funeral is Friday at 11 am at the Crenshaw Christian Faith Dome on South Vermont, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. There are indications it will be the largest LAPD funeral ever in Los Angeles.
