New name blogger in town

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has taken up a blog for the Times. So far he has talked about the Giants' win in the Super Bowl, the video he helped make for Barack Obama, how to sky hook when you're over 50, and finally today the NBA. He is a special coach for the Lakers, working with Andrew Bynum, but it looks like the Times sees him as a general marquee blogger. (That's one African American in a prominent role.) Kareem's bio on the blog lists his books, including current bestseller "On the Shoulders of Giants: My Journey Through the Harlem Renaissance."
