'The Cool School' airs here tonight

Venice oil derricks, circa 1957
I really like this photo of Venice from 1957, showing the lineage of the ocean-front condos and converted beach shacks that are now so desirable. It's by Charles Brittin, the photographer featured recently at Native Intelligence who appears in the documentary The Cool School, about the 1950s Los Angeles art scene. It's on KCET tonight at 9 pm.
