New L.A. Times magazine, not like the old one

TellZell.com got hold of the Powerpoint presentation for the new magazine that will replace the old Los Angeles Times Magazine, and it looks like pap. The mission statement:

Loving L.A. / Celebrating L.A.
Scratch the surface and L.A. is the city of surprises, diversity, style, culture, in the forefront of life.
L.A. is the center stage and the world is watching
L.A. is the city with the swagger of confidence. Where success is celebrated.
L.A. is the city where anyone can be. And live the life of possibilities.

Pretty peppy, people. The top of the masthead remains as previously reported: Annie Gilbar as editor and Rip Georges as creative director. The roster of contributing editors contains a surprise, given the general sneering directed at the proposed magazine from within the Times: City Council President Eric Garcetti has lent his name, as have Carrie Fisher and Kathy Freston. The Fall Fashion Issue is promised to land in Sept. 7.
