Bruce Riordan, the director of anti-gang operations for the Los Angeles City Attorney's office, has a signed letter in the print edition of The Economist. His comment, in the context of Mexico's new crackdown on drug gangs, is that it takes more than enforcement. But wait, UCLA professor Patrick Dowling also has a letter — the lead letter — on health care policy. So does a Michael Ryan of Stockton — 33% of the letters in a U.K. news magazine from California. Noted.
