  • Another city water main broke, this time on Topanga Canyon Blvd. in Canoga Park, amid growing political pressure.
  • City officials and the City Hall unions continued to negotiate over that early retirement plan and worker furloughs.
  • Detectives presented their evidence against former Building and Safety head Andrew Adelman to the DA's office, which is considering whether to file charges over the rape allegation.
  • Examining the overheated mailers flooding the 2nd council district as the race nears the first finish line.
  • The Convention Center wasted more than $1 million by failing to properly control employee overtime and lacks a system for keeping track of its fixed assets, according to the first audit released by Controller Wendy Greuel.
  • KCAL anchor Mia Lee has left the station after 12 years.
  • The House Ethics Committee is looking at ties between the husband of Rep. Maxine Waters and a bank.
  • Gloria Jeff was fired two years as head of the city's Department of Transportation because she fought racism at DOT, Betty Pleasant alleges in a long series in The Wave.
  • Former LAUSD superintendent Ruben Zacarias was accused of using a badge to try to pull over a female driver in Pomona.
  • Former L.A. city council member Nick Pacheco was named interim assistant city administrator in Montebello.
  • Radio reporter Ilsa Setziol is blogging at Rambling LA and has a post on blue whales at Chance of Rain.
  • Lake Sherwood security guards have been ordered to keep Lenny Dykstra out of the gated community where the bankrupt ex-baseball star owns two estates, including the one built by Wayne Gretzky.
  • Marriage equality activists need to look beyond 2010 or 2012, says Christopher Lisotta in The Advocate.
  • John Rabe has a new blog on the KPCC website.
  • Drex Heikes, the new LA Weekly editor, speaks at the L.A. Press Club on Sept. 24.
