The managing editor moves up to the top job. From the story in the Daily Breeze:

Sciacqua, 37, fills a position left vacant after former editor and interim publisher Phillip Sanfield departed in mid-August.

Sciacqua's appointment follows the arrival last month of Linda Lindus as the Breeze's new publisher.

"Toni is a strong leader with deep roots in the South Bay," Lindus said. "In the 11-plus years she's been with the Daily Breeze, she has had the opportunity to experience dramatic changes not only in the world, but within our news agencies. We felt fortunate to have an internal candidate who fits the skill sets required to lead the newsroom and who understands the diversity of the readership and the marketplace."

Sciacqua worked previously at the Long Beach Press-Telegram and is a USC journalism graduate.
