  • AEG president Tim Leiweke says that City Attorney Carmen Trutanich threatened to "go after you guys" if the company didn't pay $6 million for city services provided during the Michael Jackson memorial at Staples Center: "I wouldn't say it was extortion. I would say it's a bully tactic." Leiweke supported Jack Weiss, who Trutanich beat for the job. LAT
  • Mayor Villaraigosa's office "did not return two phone calls seeking comment about [Wally] Knox's new job with the DWP and conflicts with his post at the port," says Art Marroquin. Daily Breeze
  • The City Council voted to take another look at its plan to dramatically raise the fees the public must pay to challenge building permits and other development decisions by City Hall. LAT, DN, L.A. Daily
  • Members of the Police Protective League voted to ratify a new two-year contract with the LAPD that provides no raises but ensures no furloughs. LAT

  • Ron Kaye put out a call for a Saturday meeting of his Saving LA Project, "so we can coordinate community efforts on a broad range of issues."
  • After 18 consecutive months of declines, LAX reported a slight uptick in passenger traffic in September. Daily Breeze
