Inglewood's Fox Theatre 'a time capsule from 1949'

fox-auction-sign.jpgThe Inglewood Fox, closed since the 1980s, is up for sale with bids due on Friday. Students at USC's South Los Angeles Report take a look and find a lot of preservationist interest in the old cinema, but developers and the city prefer to tear it down and move on. It's owned by former NFL linebacker Mark Fields. "This is an exceptional theater, one that we won’t see the likes of ever again," said Hillsman Wright, executive director of the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation, which is seeking to include the Fox in the National Register of Historic Places.

Add USC: Student journalists for Neon Tommy are now contributing stories to the L.A. Times' recently re-launched Homicide Report blog.
