battle-los-angeles.jpgRemember in December when those military helicopters buzzed Santa Monica for a movie shoot? Those were about the only scenes of the upcoming "Battle: Los Angeles" that were filmed here. Most of the Santa Monica action was shot in Shreveport, Louisiana, using painted palm trees, with other footage gathered in Baton Rouge. “You’re never going to know we didn’t shoot the movie in Los Angeles,” producer Neal Moritz says in the New York Times, which uses the film as evidence of runaway production to other states. One incentive: Louisiana was "willing to shut down a major freeway interchange for three weeks to allow cast and crew to shoot battle scenes that were set on Interstate 405 in Southern California."
