Johnston talks Gates to 'Off-Ramp'

David Cay Johnston, the ex-NYT reporter who lives now in upstate New York, has been getting a fair bit of attention here in his former hometown for his LA Observed Visiting Blogger post on spymeister Daryl Gates. Johnston has been on "Which Way, L.A.?" on KCRW, as I mentioned Monday, and also did an interview with John Rabe of KPCC for this weekend's "Off-Ramp." And, to close a circle from Monday, The Wrap has fixed its attribution on the Johnston excerpt it picked up, now crediting LA Observed. Thanks for that, and to Matthew Fleischer at Fishbowl LA for noticing.

Add Gates: Reading Johnston's post "triggered my own memories of the us-versus-them climate that Daryl Gates both created and tacitly sanctioned within the department," Celeste Fremon writes at Witness LA.

Add WWLA: Wednesday's show will dissect Mayor Villaraigosa's State of the City speech.
