  • Game 7 of the NBA Finals between the Lakers and Celtics begins at 6 p.m. Mayor Villaraigosa and LAPD Chief Charlie Beck are urging those without tickets to stay away from Downtown. LA Observed yesterday

  • Vice President Joe Biden will visit California next month to campaign for Sen. Barbara Boxer. Capitol Alert, LAT
  • Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Boxer are among the wealthiest lawmakers in Washington, according to annual financial disclosure reports. SF Chronicle
  • The county Board of Supervisors "called for fundamental changes in the Probation Department" after allegations that employees used department credit cards and gift cards to purchase flat-screen TVs, DVD players and other items that can't be found. LAT

  • Mayor Villaraigosa is expected to announce he has chosen Brenda Barnette, chief executive of the Seattle Humane Society, to be the new general manager of the Department of Animal Services. LAT
  • The Los Angeles Film Festival opens its ten-day run tonight at the Regal cinemas at L.A. Live. Website

  • Sheriff's detective Phillip Solano is the subject of an internal investigation into accusations that he had an affair with a woman whose husband he had investigated and helped prosecute for allegedly threatening her. LAT
  • Three off-duty LAPD officers were outside Weiland's Brewery Restaurant on 1st Street about 2 a.m. Wednesday when one of them pulled out a gun and fired at least one shot in the direction of a street lamp, according to Times sources. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. LAT
  • The LAPD will have officers join the June 25 Critical Mass bike ride to help defuse tensions between the police and bicycle activists. LAist
  • Six people have filed claims for damages against the City Council and LAPD for injuries they say they suffered during a scuffle at a council meeting last month. KPCC
  • A Valley Village couple has three adult wolves and seven pups in their suburban yard. LAT
  • Pasadena's All Saints Church is planning an expansion that would add three new buildings and a 500-seat open-air forum to its 2.8 acre campus. Curbed LA
