Michael Douglas calls his cancer stage IV, 'intense'

Appearing tonight on David Letterman's show, actor Michael Douglas said his throat cancer has advanced to stage IV, the most advanced form using that rating system. From Reuters:

Letterman asked whether stage IV was a good diagnosis.

"Um no," Douglas replied, according to a transcript provided by CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman."

Stage IV cancer has spread far beyond the original tumor and is usually impossible to cure.

Douglas insisted that it's being aggressively treated and that his chances are good.
