Harold Dow's last story for CBS

rodney-alcala.jpgBefore he died in August, longtime "48 Hours" correspondent Harold Dow worked for more than a year on a story about Southern California serial killer Rodney Alcala and his "40-year odyssey of rape, murder and eluding justice." Alcala was a UCLA student, Los Angeles Times typesetter, "Dating Game" contestant and wedding photographer at times during his criminal career, according to the story, which aired this weekend and featured retired LAPD detective-turned-author Steve Hodel. Before joining "48 Hours," Dow was a CBS News correspondent in Los Angeles.
