Fine, the 70-year-old lawyer and self-styled taxpayer advocate sent to jail "indefinitely" by a ticked-off Superior Court judge, served a year and a half before being released abruptly last night. Superior Court Judge David P. Yaffe sent Fine to jail for refusing to answer questions about his finances and for practicing law without a license. The U.S. Supreme Court refused to free Fine earlier this year.
