Skeletons in this particular closet

body-skeletons.jpgThe gift store at the Los Angeles County Coroner's office has been open for 17 years now (at least) and written about often. I even did one of those stories. A forthcoming county audit is going to show that all that time, Skeletons in the Closet has been a money loser. The anti-teen drunk driving program that is supposed to benefit from the profits has actually been subsidizing the store. More at the Supervisor Yaroslavsky website.

Noted: Roy Rivenburg remembers doing a story for the L.A. Times in 1993 and being told then the shop was already five years old.

Also at ZevWeb: Metro's ad and marketing staff is having a good time making transit cool in L.A.
