Admiral Michael G. Mullen, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, is making the L.A. rounds today. He began this morning at a joint appearance with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at the West L.A. Veterans Affairs campus. Right about now he's riding as grand marshal in the San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade, in the Pacoima area. Mullen is a Valley kid: he grew up in North Hollywood and graduated from Notre Dame High School. He spoke at UCLA on Wednesday.
