You don't see this every day. In a video clip that's part of the evidence against her, longtime LAPD detective Stephanie Lazarus learns she is a suspect in the 1986 killing of her ex-beau's wife. Lazarus was in an interview room in the Parker Center jail area, where fellow Robbery-Homicide investigators had lured her on a pretext, but which offered the advantage of her not being allowed to bring her gun. The case, built against Lazarus more than 20 years after the murder, hinges on DNA evidence. The father of the victim, you may recall, complained last year that he repeatedly told LAPD detectives to look at Lazarus as a suspect. She remains in jail awaiting trial.
