Dino De Laurentiis, producer was 91

De Laurentiis died Wednesday at home in Beverly Hills. Not many Hollywood producers have this range of credits. In addition to the early Fellini films and other works in Italy, often with American stars, De Laurentiis and his companies produced "Serpico," "Three Days of the Condor," "King Kong," "The Shootist," "Blue Velvet," "Barberella" and "Mandingo." In "Conan the Barhbarian," he also gave a start to muscle man Arnold Schwarzenegger. "The world lost a great entrepreneur, genius and salesman today with the passing of Dino De Laurentiis,” Gov. Schwarzenegger said in a statement. “Dino always treated me like a son and gave me my first big break in the movie business with 'Conan the Barbarian,’ which launched my career. Dino always said you need three things in life: brains, heart and balls, and I hope I’ve exemplified that advice throughout my career.” NYT, LAT
