Finke: Speier hasn't parted ways

Michael Speier is no longer Nikki Finke's managing editor at Deadline, just three months after he hired on to much Finkeian fanfare. But he hasn't completely left either, she emails, taking issue with my media shorts item this morning. (I emailed her for comment last night but didn't hear back.) She crowed in September, understandably, about nabbing the former senior editor at Variety and The Wrap. Now, she says, he has changed jobs in "a mere administrative transfer." He's moving to the parent company's new TVLine website, since as she says, "he has a background in TV. There was no 'parting ways.'" She'll be looking for a new managing editor at Deadline "right away," Finke says. As for the disappearance from Deadline's archive of her press release about hiring Speier three months ago, the Finkester says: "First i've heard about it." Sounds like a stay-tuned situation.

By the way: A search on the Deadline site finds no mention of Speier at all. Screen grab after the jump.
