A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy was shot in the cheek Tuesday night in East Los Angeles during an incident in which the alleged gunman was killed, authorities said."I'm grateful that the wound does not appear to be life-threatening," Sheriff Lee Baca said when contacted by The Times as he headed to the hospital.
