Academy blocks Portman question about anti-Semitism

portman-backstage-wrap.jpgAfter she picked up her Oscar last night and went backstage to meet the media, Natalie Portman was asked by a reporter why she wasn't wearing Dior — she's a spokesperson for the Miss Dior Cheri fragrance — and for her thoughts on Dior designer John Galliano being accused of anti-Semitic remarks. Befpore Portman could answer, an academy official stepped in. The question also never showed up in the transcripts that the academy types up for distribution.

A murmur went through the assembled media in the room, but the exchange doesn't show up anywhere on the Academy's transcript, released late Sunday night.

Leslie Unger, the Academy's communications director, told TheWrap that "since the question was not being answered, the question wouldn't be included in the transcript." The question to Portman was the only unanswered question backstage during Sunday's Oscars.
