Kit Rachlis named editor of The American Prospect

Rachlis, editor of Los Angeles magazine from 2000-2009, starts April 18 at the progressive policy/politics magazine based in Washington, DC. He will be moving east. "We are thrilled to welcome Kit Rachlis to The Prospect," said Miles Rapoport, president of the magazine and of Demos, The American Prospect’s publishing partner. "He is a superb editor and journalist, and brings the perfect blend of skills and experience to this position." Rachlis had formerly been the editor of the LA Weekly, executive editor at the Village Voice and a senior editor at the Los Angeles Times. Most recently he has been a Senior Fellow at the Center on Communication Leadership and Policy at USC Annenberg.

The American Prospect was founded in 1990 by Robert Kuttner, Robert Reich, and Paul Starr.
