This might help prevent locals from going a little crazy over the arrival of airborne radiation particles from Japan. The South Coast Air Quality Management District said it will post, starting today, a daily report from its radiation monitors. "As of today, radiation levels measured at three regional sites...have not been higher than typical 'background' levels seen before the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. In the unlikely event that this changes, these extremely sensitive monitors will detect any change in outdoor radiation levels and it will be reported on this website," says the agency. You can even sign up for email alerts, if you must. The district also prepared a video with public health honcho Dr. Jonathan Fielding reminding residents that you have nothing to worry about from Japan "based on what we know at the moment."
