Film of murals being installed at Golden State Mutual *

Woodruff-mural-300x204.jpgOscar Garza at LA Fwd has posted a two-minute silent clip of the Hale Woodruff and Charles Alston murals being installed and unveiled for the 1949 opening of the Golden State Mutual Life Insurance building at West Adams Boulevard and Western Avenue. Those are the murals whose fate has some Angelenos in a dither and that the Smithsonian has now decided it no longer wishes to acquire. Have a look. I wish Garza had explained how he came to have the clip. (* He added it: Garza found the film on the website of the state's Conservation and Liquidation Office. Nice find.)
