Go surfing with Liz Phair

liz-phair-grab-2.jpgLiz Phair, back home in Manhattan Beach after a national performance tour that started in October at the El Rey, plays the Troubadour on Wednesday. Los Angeles Magazine asked the Chicago native to riff a little on life in Los Angeles. Excerpt:

Best place for taste of Chicago in Los Angeles: Polish sausages at Dodger Stadium, or at a Lakers game at Staples Center.

Word of advice to L.A.’s aspiring singer songwriters:
Marry rich.

Tomorrow morning in Los Angeles I will…?
Continue search for potassium iodide.

You’ve taken up surfing. Where’s your spot?
Right down the street from house. Walk down hill with surfboard on head.

It seems even people in the business don't support record stores any more. Asked for her last music purchase at Amoeba, Phair quips: "Just do iTunes." She heads out to perform at SWSX after the show.
