Lakers lose ugly to start the playoffs

The Lakers' first-round opponent this year is the New Orleans Hornets. They came into L.A. and humbled the defending champions 109-100, getting 33 points from Chris Paul. Kobe scored 34, but Pau Gasol struggled and the Lakers never led in the second half.

NHL: The Ducks lost and trail the Nashville Predators 2-1 in their Stanley Cup playoffs series.

At Dodger Stadium: Matt Kemp homered in the 9th for the walk-off win over the Cardinals, 2-1.
