Playboy's top editor moving to L.A.

Jimmy Jellinek, Playboy magazine's editorial director and chief content officer, arrives in August. That means both he and deputy editor Stephen Randall will be working out of the Playboy offices in Glendale. The company took pains today to stress that the rest of the editorial staff will remain in Chicago, but Jellinek himself says in his email to the staff that a westward move is inevitable:

I want to be clear that at this moment no definite plans have been made to relocate the rest of editorial. That we will be in Los Angeles in [sic] inevitable. When and what that time table will be I do not know but will endeavour to give you as much information as possible as it becomes available.

The magazine's New York staff was uprooted and moved to Chicago in 2009, and there's been speculation about a move to L.A. much of the time since.
