Tonight in San Francisco

Before the game in San Francisco, the Giants and Dodgers gathered on the field to stand for a moment of silence in honor of injured fan Bryan Stow. Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt then took the microphone and called on fans to have passion for the rivalry and respect for each other. Then he turned the floor over to his friend, the Dodgers' Jamey Carroll. ESPN's Dodger Thoughts quotes the players.

Also today:

  • The Dodgers' ex-manager Tom Lasorda donated $5,000 during the day's drive-through fundraiser for Stow at Dodger Stadium.
  • Roger Guenveur Smith's one-man play about the Juan Marichal-John Roseboro incident in 1965 opens May 17 at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.
  • My radio column on KCRW tonight talked about the problems at Dodger Stadium.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Dodgers lead 5-0.

Also this: Frank McCourt's former lawyers sued him, alleging that if he loses the Dodgers the firm's mistake on that post-nup agreement won't be to blame, but rather "his own widely publicized financial problems, huge withdrawals of cash from the Dodgers, and strained relations with Major League Baseball."
