Endeavour a go to land tonight in Florida *

It would have been fitting and delightfully cinematic if the space shuttle Endeavour concluded its final flight with a weather diversion to Southern California. Alas, those NASA guys have no sense of story. The shuttle has been cleared to begin its deorbit burn at 10:29 p.m. Pacific time and land at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:35. Watch live on NASA TV. In a year or so, Endeavour will arrive at the California Science Center on Figueroa Street having logged 299 days in space on 25 flights since May 7, 1992.

A video tribute to the ship from the crew on board:

* Safely down: On time arrival.
