Party night at the Hollywood Bowl

dip.JPGShana Ting Lipton was among the press corps that freebied in to tonight's launch party for the 90th season of the Hollywood Bowl. Nice night for it. Gustavo Dudamel was the star attraction, she writes at About.com: "Hollywood Bowl President Deborah Borda said a few words before 'the dude' got up at the podium to talk about the exciting season ahead."

Borda mentioned, for instance, that Harry Connick, Jr. and Gloria Estefan will be inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame on this season's opening night (Hilary Swank will do the honors). A Cirque de Soleil performance will follow.

Such news, along with some charming, slightly broken-English, words from the master conductor were enough to get people jazzed--that and the great live Latin grooves.
