Q: How badly is the Lakers' choice of Mike Brown going over?

A: Pretty badly.

Mark Heisler, the L.A. Times' longtime NBA writer, isn't impressed by the growing role of Jerry Buss' son, Jim, or his pick of Brown to coach Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. The younger Buss, says Heisler, has the basketball sophistication of a "Radio Talk Show Caller" and jumped the gun on Brown.

You mean the Lakers didn't, at least, run it by Kobe?

They not only didn't run it by him, they chose the only coach in the running he wasn't fine with.....

"Coaching the Lakers is more than coaching," said a West team official. "You've got Kobe, Vanessa, Lamar [Odom], Khloe, Pau [Gasol], his girlfriend."
