Janice Hahn elected to Congress *

With the final election night ballots counted, and most of the mail-ins tabulated, the county registrar says it's 54.56 percent for Democrat Janice Hahn and 45.44 percent for Republican Craig Huey. Not quite 7,000 votes separate them. "There is no tea in L.A. Harbor," county Democratic chair Eric Bauman tweets in celebration. A little over half of the votes came in by mail for the 36th CD special.

Minor note: Firefighter union leader Pat McOsker's was the first press release to land announcing he's a candidate for Hahn's seat on the City Council. The release came from consultant John Shallman. The McOskers and the Hahns go way back. Pat's brother Tim was the chief of staff in City Hall for Janice's brother Jim, when he was mayor.

* Wednesday morning update: Add Assemblyman Warren Furutani and LAPD officer Joe Buscaino to the initial list of announced candidates for Hahn's seat.
