Third CicLAvia has a longer route

ciclavia_map_oct2011.jpg

Here's the official guide to Sunday's closure of ten miles of streets for walkers, bike riders, skaters and other non-motorized uses. It still goes between the Eastside's Hollenbeck Park and the so-called Bicycle District behind City College. There are short spurs into Chinatown and a little ways down Central Avenue — the organizers call it South L.A., but it never actually dips below the 10 Freeway.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with street closures beginning at 7 a.m. Click the map to see it larger, with crossing points for cars etc.

Notes:

  • CicLAvia co-founder Jonathan Parfrey, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the other politicians will do their media op at 9:30 a.m. at the Downtown intersection of 7th and Spring streets.
  • Organizers are taking pains to include the Occupy LA protesters at City Hall and their supporters in the day's festivities. "Based on the incredibly diverse participation in past CicLAvias, we know that there's room for everyone to join in and have a great time," says a statement aimed at Occupy L.A.
