  • Labor's role in supporting Occupy LA, and media coverage, are complicating negotiations with the city over a shutdown plan with a mayoral deadline reportedly looming . LAT, LA Weekly, DN
  • Both Cerrell and Dakota Communications dropped out of the political contest to choose a PR firm for the City Council's redistricting commission, leaving the city with no top contenders for now. LAT
  • Mayor Villaraigosa's push to drop the 30-day impound of cars driven by illegal immigrants is getting pushback from the LAPD union. LAT
  • Villaraigosa will help serve Thanksgiving meals at the Los Angeles Mission at 11:15 this morning.
  • At 9:30 Councilman José Huizar will propose a complete ban on medical marijuana dispensaries in L.A. DN wires, City Maven
  • The city is turning bulldozing foreclosed homes and turning the lots into pocket parks. DN
  • The L.A. County Federation of Labor endorsed Warren Furutani in the CD 15 runoff, while Joe Buscaino got the endorsement of United Firefighters and the union's president-candidate, Pat McOsker.
  • Convicted former lobbyist (and Beverly Hills High alum) Jack Abramoff will guest with KPCC's Patt Morrison at 1:40 p.m. to talk about his new book.
  • Broadway's historic movie palaces are "an incredibly valuable resource for filming in Los Angeles." LAT
  • New York Times reporter Charles Duhigg, formerly of L.A., sold Random House an "untitled book on productivity, which draws on the latest discoveries in neuroscience, psychology and sociology to explore why some people, businesses, and societies are so much more productive than others." Publishers Lunch
  • Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers (and Granada Hills High School) won the National League MVP award over the Dodgers' Matt Kemp.
