Campaign 2013

Greuel adds Boxer aide Rose Kapolczynski to campaign

The Wendy Greuel for mayor campaign put out a release today naming the senior players. John Shallman, Greuel's longtime political consultant, has been on board already and goes forward with the title of Chief Strategist and Senior Consultant. (He was in the news this weekend explaining how another campaign he's running, Carmen Trutanich for DA, paid for hundreds of thousands of YouTube video views — then put out a release claiming it showed strong support for the candidate.) The newsy newcomer is Rose Kapolczynski, who's been closely aligned with Sen. Barbara Boxer as her consultant and campaign manager through the years. She will be the Greuel campaign's senior advisor. Christopher Guerrero, former field director for the California Democratic Party, will be Greuel’s political director.

Greuel notes in a fundraising appeal Monday that the primary election for mayor will be held exactly a year from today.

Program note: The bogus Trutanich video views are the main subject of tonight's LA Observed segment on KCRW, on the air at 6:44 p.m. and online at KCRW.com.

Plus: Kate Linthicum in the LA Times puts forth a quick once-over on the state of the 2013 mayor's race a year out.
