Kinde Durkee pleads guilty to fraud of at least $7 million *

Kinde-Durkee-mugshot.jpgThe campaign treasurer for many California Democrats pleaded guilty this morning in federal court in Sacramento. She pleaded to five counts of mail fraud. Durkee remains free pending sentencing June 20 and could get 11 to 14 years in prison. More questions remain than there are answers immediately available. "Devastation for many of her clients," said Benjamin Wagner, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of California. “This is believed to be the largest embezzlement scheme ever by a campaign treasurer."
