Los Angeles mag a finalist for two Ellies

Today's list of finalists for the National Magazine Awards includes two writers for Los Angeles magazine: Steve Erickson's columns and Mike Kessler's story examining what happened to Mitrice Richardson after she was released from custody in Agoura Hills by the sheriff's department. Erickson's work is in a category that includes Vanity Fair columns by the late Christopher Hitchens and Time columns by Joel Stein.

The general excellence finalists are Bloomberg Businessweek, GQ, New York, the New Yorker and Vice. From the American Society of Magazine Editors:
