World Peace suspended for seven games, into playoffs

metta-gives-elbow.jpgThe Lakers will be without Metta World Peace for the final game of the season and the first six games of the NBA playoffs, if they get that far. MWP was suspended for his unprovoked elbow to the head of Oklahoma City's James Harden, sidelining him with a concussion. The suspension costs the Laker nearly $348,000 in salary if he serves the whole thing this season; if it carries over to next year, I guess his pay would be docked based on whatever contract is in effect then.

"I apologize to the Oklahoma City Thunder fans and the OKC organization," World Peace wrote on ronartest.com. "I look foward (sic) to getting back on the floor with my teammates and competing for the Lakers fans."

The league cited his lengthy record of discipline as Ron Artest in suspending World Peace.
