Chief Beck injured riding in motocross *

beck-supercross-grab.jpgLAPD Chief Charlie Beck suffered what's being called a mild injury during a motocross event on Thursday and is home resting. He's expected back at work on Monday, spokesman Andrew Smith said. The department shared few details of the injury, but the LA Times reports its sources say that Beck injured a shoulder and underwent a medical procedure to repair damage.

Beck, who is 59, is considered an expert rider and has won numerous competitions. Here's a video from earlier this year of Beck talking enthusiastically about the Supercross event held at Dodger Stadium.

Late Friday update: Beck broke his collarbone, he told the Times.
