Friday politics notes: Garcetti gets Latino backing

City Councilman Eric Garcetti announced a list of Latinos who are backing him in the mayor's race, among them retired state Supreme Court justice Carlos Moreno, former Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, actress Salma Hayek and former congressman Esteban Torres. Whole list

District Attorney Steve Cooley endorses Kevin James for mayor at a 10 a.m. presser.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is scheduled to endorse Jackie Lacey for district attorney at a presser this morning. Former DA and state attorney general John Van de Kamp endorsed Lacey yesterday.

The blue-ribbon commission's report on jail violence is due to be released at 10 a.m., expected to call for serious reforms in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

AEG's downtown stadium proposal is due to go to the City Council today for approval.

Bob Hertzberg sent out another fundraising pitch for Wendy Greuel's mayoral campaign.
