Mike Feuer hurt in car crash on way to Lacey ceremony

mike-feuer-mic.jpgCity attorney candidate Mike Feuer was involved in a crash while driving to this afternoon's swearing-in ceremony for new District Attorney Jackie Lacey, campaign aides say. "According to Feuer's people, the crash happened when a truck ran a red light," KPCC's Alice Walton reports on Twitter. Feuer, the former state assemblyman and Los Angeles City Council member, is challenging City Attorney Carmen Trutanich in the March 5 city primary election.

“On the way to Jackie Lacey’s swearing-in ceremony as Los Angeles County’s new District Attorney, Mike Feuer was driving his Toyota Prius and was hit by a truck who ran a red light. Mr. Feuer did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, however he will stay in the hospital for the next few days,” campaign chief strategist John Shallman said in an emailed statement. “Mr. Feuer is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. The Feuer family thanks the media and public for respecting their privacy.”

Lacey received her oath of office from District Attorney Steve Cooley this afternoon at USC's Galen Center. The ceremony was attended by hundreds of officials from around the county, co-workers and friends. Former DA's John Van de Kamp, Robert Philibosian and Gil Garcetti attended.
