Bookstore on the edge: Cliff's in Pasadena *

cliffs-books.jpgFor 25 years, Cliff's Books has survived just a half-block from Vroman's on Colorado Boulevard. Now everything in Cliff's large inventory is on sale for 50% off and they are hoping for a buyer to show up — and soon. If you're a fan, it sounds like now is the time to go purchase a few used books. Owner Cliff Gildart apparently doesn't come in anymore, due to age and illness. [Fixed: I originally misheard it was 15% off.]

The Barnes & Noble store in Woodland Hills closed abruptly on New Year's Eve.
