Regarding Texas Gov. Rick Perry's radio ad encouraging California businesses to relocate to Texas, Gov. Jerry Brown told reporters: "It's not a serious story, guys. It's not a burp. It's barely a fart." Bee

A third measure to regulate how medical marijuana clinics operate in Los Angeles was placed on the May 21 ballot by the City Council on Tuesday, offered as a compromise to two other measures that are also going before voters. DN, KPCC

Rivals criticized Wendy Greuel's vow to add 2,000 more LAPD officers and add other police and fire services and staff, announced in conjunction with unions but not the departments themselves, and without details about how to pay for it. LAT, DN, LA Weekly, KPCC

The city's airport commission approved the move of Los Angeles International Airport's northern runway closer to nearby homes for safety and efficiency reasons. LAT, Daily Breeze

NBC Universal's $1.6 billion proposal to expand the Universal Studios theme park and production facilities won final approval from the City Council and now faces a county review before work can begin. DN

The DWP is "on a campaign to settle three of the most bitter water wars in the Owens Valley before celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Los Angeles Aqueduct in November." LAT

County probation is having a hard time filling job openings for probation officers to oversee prison realignment convicts, in part because of a deal with unions to hire only from within. Witness LA

The DA's office accused singer Chris Brown of failing to complete court-ordered community service for his 2009 conviction for assaulting Rihanna, and alleges he submitted fraudulent documents claiming he did his time. LAT

Bobby Joe Maxwell, accused of being the notorious "Skid Row Stabber" in the 1970s, has been indicted on three murder charges in cases that were not resolved in 1984. LAT

San Fernando High School's only two marching band tubas were stolen by weekend burglars at the Pacoima campus who left the other musical instruments. LAT

The independent feature "Dorfman in Love" wasd filed in the Toy Lofts and is a romantic comedy "about a young suburbanite whose life is transformed when she leaves a dreary existence taking care of her father in the San Fernando Valley and moves into a downtown loft to cat-sit for a friend." LAT

Essie Mae Washington-Williams, a retired LA teacher who revealed in 2003 that she was the black daughter of segregationist Strom Thurmond, died at age 87. LAT
